Preparing for Your Main Line Interior or Exterior Painting Project: FAQs Answered
If you’re considering a professional interior painting update for your home, but you have some questions about the process, you’ve come to the right place. We’ve helped countless homeowners around the Main Line refresh or completely makeover their interior space, including walls, trim, cabinets, and more. Here are some frequently asked questions (FAQs) from our clients, to help you prepare for the service requested:
Q. What do we need to do to prepare for an interior painting project?
A. To protect your belongings, we request that you remove small items that may be sitting on top of furniture—anything that might break or fall when we move larger items. Our team is happy to do the heavy lifting by moving furniture, in addition to covering everything up to protect it from paint splatters and dust. We’ll also remove and replace the switch and outlet covers to ensure a seamless finish around them.
Q. How do we go about selecting an interior paint color? Can you help with that?
A. We can! For many clients, this is the fun part, and they enjoy doing this on their own by coming to us with colors they have found on design websites or elsewhere. For those not feeling as confident, we oMer a free one-hour color consultation with a Main Line professional interior design specialist. We also will provide color fans and folders and are happy to make suggestions.
Q. Can we select a color from any paint manufacturer?
Q. Are you able to do any interior or exterior repairs that need to be done before painting?
A. Yes. Our team is capable of doing drywall repairs, light carpentry, or stucco repairs prior to painting the interior or exterior of your home. Addressing these imperfections before painting ensures that you will receive the best outcome possible.
Q. How do you prepare interior surfaces before applying the paint?
A. This is a good question, as proper surface preparation is critical to a quality outcome, and not all contractors prepare things correctly.
Doors and moldings: We’ll scrape oM any loose existing paint, sand the remaining paint smooth with mechanical sanders connected to HEPA vacuums for dust control, apply the proper primer depending on the substrate, and fill any cracks or gaps with a good quality caulk.
Walls and ceilings: We’ll use mesh tape to repair cracks followed by three coats of joint compound. We also use the joint compound to repair small dents, dings, or other imperfections. We’ll then sand everything smooth and apply a primer to the bare porous joint compound so that it is ready to be painted over.
With these proven processes we are confident that you will receive a paint job that isflawless and long-lasting. Mike Jasinski Painting is committed to giving homeowners around the Main Line the quality
interior and exterior painting that they’re looking for. We hope this has helped answer some of your pressing questions, but if you find yourself with additional concerns, do not hesitate to reach out to us.
